Cold Sweats

You’re a dream, and I’m the nightmare,

Hollow walls and haunting sounds,

A box never felt so small than now,

When I come to you in your sleep.

You embrace me in your state of mind,

Not realizing I’m the faceless problem,

The reason you wake up screaming,

Cold sweats in the dark of night.

You don’t care about the world ending,

Or the fact that we are cliff diving,

In this red old beat up van,

Wake up before we come crashing down.

I give you cold sweats as you wake up,

Making you feel dead inside,

Because I’m the nightmare your brain goes to,

Attracted by love because I entice you.

You wear rose-colored glasses,

Perceiving me in a better light,

But I’m the darkest of days,

And the worst of nights.

When you feel you’re falling,
I jerk you awake while sleep calls you,

Here we are again fighting rest,

Cold sweats got you feeling crazy.

I’m a black hole, consuming you,

You’re the peaceful space I want to live in,

But we clash because I’m opposite of you,

I’m havoc when you’re the eye of the storm.

Give me hope that you collide into me,

You give me calm while I give you hell,

I don’t mean to, but I do,

I keep you up while you try to sleep.

I’m your nightmare and you’re my dream,

Because you give me chills,

And I give you cold sweats,

As you wake screaming I’m sound asleep.
