Favourite character(s)?

my favorite characters are gibson,rosenberg and travis<33 i like gibson bc she looks me when i be a 50-60 old lol.. i simply love rosenberg because she say such beautifull and touching things to sal,about life (that everyone thinks its crazy and bad and that she is crazy but she is not she is right i love her<3) and i love travis bc he is mad all the time just like me i just loVE HIMM. inlove the scene when he is talking w sal in the bathroom.

My favorite character is definitely larry. He's also my highest kin

i loveee ash i know that a lot of people don't like her but she's such a sweetheart and literally did nothing wrong !! i could talk about her character for hours 

i also just have a habit of absolutely adoring the girl character of a franchise that everyone else seems to hate so idk but either way yeah she's my favorite

Aight, it's ramble time 

Sally is an incredible character, and will forever be my favorite of the gang. I agree majority of the characters were/are written incredibly well, but Sally will always be my holy grail. Not only because I relate to him on such a personal level, but also because he's simply one of the best main characters to ever exist! (in my humble opinion) 

I'll try to keep this short, Sally was just a child who was faced with the most dreadful fate. Did he ever have a choice? Was he always supposed to do what he did? Was he 'chosen', survived from the horrid shot of a cultist? Everything he went through, with his father not getting proper help, his surroundings being unsafe (very likely both at home and outside after the event), he didn't have a say in any of it. He was set up for destruction, set up to be a criminal in the eyes of the world. 

I agree that Sally deserved to go to some sort of containment, honestly. But overall what Ashley said describes it best; "He isn't a bad person, he just needs help.", which is true for surprisingly many people who fall into the cycle of bad actions. But nothing will take away those bad actions. Blaming it on a childhood is not a valid answer, because there are no justifications for hurting people. Soul-saving, mass-murder, it was one in the same. Obviously there are times when you need to protect yourself, which was the case for Sally here. He was trying to protect himself and the ones he loved, but did he ever do that? So far, we don't even know. What he was told could've been a lie. Even if it wasn't it was still murder of innocent souls who could do nothing about their corruption. They were just existing. He believed he was doing the right thing, and that's exactly what happens to someone who needs urgent help. 

Sally is a neglected, traumatized, mistreated, misjudged child. He never handled anything in his brain, because logically speaking was it even possible once the chance finally arose? He is one of the most perfect writings of a character who never grew up. He seems more mature at an older age, but he's still the same. He's the same Sally, because no one and nothing told him he didn't need to do anything he didn't want to. Not in a meaningful way. He didn't have to start solving the mystery, but the kiddish curiosity in him led him along. Once he was in too deep, what could he do? Trapped. He had no choice anymore. 

He is a tragic character, a blood-stained criminal. He is the absolute perfection that I want my characters to be. I love him, relate to him and understand him.
