(Help) Was AIM Phoenix/AOL Hacked?

those using or have used AIM Phoenix or Escargot, i saw in a post after i noticed my download was screwing my computer that both Phoenix and Escargot MSN (or aim idk) were breached? i wanted to redownload but now i find it hard to trust either of those. anyone know what i can do? if its possible i would like to have AIM. :(

also does AIM Phoenix still work for anyone? are there any recommended safe IMs like AIM/MSN/Messenger etc? thanks!
