Flyleaf was one of the bands that really good me into the emo and metal genre.

But there were many other bands too! Many were from Europe too! I'll list some below:

My favorite band of all time in the 'emo' scene is Paramore. They have something special, and they began performing at a really young age too which is really impressive!

I have a few for different genres

for sevdalinka i think it was a toss up between safet isovic-ne ljubi ciganku/meho puzic-il me zeni il tamburu kupi. My mom played these when i was younger and i thought they sounded so cool

I really got into russian pop because of max barskih-dance, i would listen to that for days on end in high school. My cousins showed me a turbo folk song as well, sandra afrika- neko ce mi nocas napraviti sina, and like to that day I'm still such a huge fan of the genre.

i grew up with japanese music and visual kei aint no exception

i was already familiar with alot of visual kei bands cuz i see them on japanese music channels on tv
but unfortunately i wasnt into them at first
even tho i found them cool and beautiful looking with overall visuals that captivates,
the music wasnt speaking to me
this is also finally where i discovered the variety of subgenres visual kei
and found bands that suits my music taste (mainly influenced by post-grunge/alt/nu metal)

Chop Suey! by System Of A Down was my intro to alt-metal.  Also credit to Alice In Chains and Deftones for helping me realize how much I loved it.

"Immaterial" by SOPHIE is the song that made me listen to Hyperpop.

I was following someone on Instagram with the cover of the album that Immaterial is in as the PFP and few days later I saw the song or album (I dont quite remember) recommended to me on Spotify so I listened to the song. Life changing experience.

(The album is called "Oil Of Every Pearl's Un-Insides")

Megalomaniac by KMFDM got me into industrial. At first it didn't really click with me, but after I listened to it a couple times I just got obsessed with it - soon after I found big black, then skinny puppy, then nine inch nails and eventually ministry

It was In The End by Linkin Park which ended up getting me into numetal, but funnily I didn't just find the song on it's own, but in the Half-Life 2 video where Eli and Dr Kleiner are singing it lol
