Jews in SPACE(hey)

In terms of the forum title from Super Mensch Mel Brooks (it's a bit from History of the World pt. I)  .

Seeking fellow Jewish people of all flavors. I was raised in a USCJ Conservative congregation but as an adult I lean Reform/Reconstructionist approach.  And I am not that observant but used to go to schul a few times a through the year outside of High Holidays. Currently seeking some guidance preferably by a Queer and/or Female Rabbi.

Let's kibbitz!

Well, hello! I wasn't sure whether this topic would get views or replies because of antisemitism being on the rise but I'm glad there is someone out here like me. L'chiam!

Anybody got plans for Purim? It would be cool if I could find a Magilla reading on a zoom or a Facebook live or something. Not sure whether I'll dress up or anything but still something to do.

I haven't seen a whole lot popping up with regards to Purim, but I might not be looking in the right places...

I would've thought that Jewish Live would have something, too.

I found this (registration required): https://tcjewfolk.com/event/purim-party/ . But that's all I have so far.

I can't get used to virtual meetings. It's too stressful and I don't do them when I don't really have to. Before the pandemic I used to go to Moishe House. But I don't think I can participate in the virtual lecture this year. It would make me too anxious.

Totally understandable! Our congregation meets virtually, and I have to turn the camera off to feel comfortable. But then they do these "break-out rooms"... that's rough on the anxiety.

I feel like it's hardest when you don't know the people very well. You're all sort of sitting there, staring blankly at the screen.

I haven't tried to attend any virtual services yet. I left the schul I grew up in because the Rabbi was a scumbag and yet he is still employed for another 5.5 years per the contract.

It's good to know I'm not alone

In the end it seems that my friend from Israel is going to throw a secret party to celebrate Purim.

A lot of the people in my weekly knitting group are Jewish and since Purim is on the 26th we are going to have a festive evening on the 25th with drinking and groggers.

Welcome! Do people have plans to gather for Passover? Not that I want to think about it. (I don't clean my house for it). I will have my second dose of the Moderna vaccine on 26th so I don't know how I will be feeling come seder.

This year is flying by!

@sobb1ng: start by reading on My Jewish Learning, and then reach out to a local Rabbi to schedule up a meeting. The Rabbi will be able to direct you to more information, open up learning opportunities, and answer any questions. They'll also be able to give you a sort of overview on what the process looks like.
