I recently heard a rumor that the water in town tastes like it contains hydrogen. I haven't tried water, so I am not able to confirm the rumor. Just wanted to let you all know. Stay careful out there.

Hopefully not! I don't know about you all, but I paid extra for the homeowners association to install hydrogen-free taps, and I feel confident in knowing that my water contains no hydrogen. If you are concerned about hydrogen contamination, I would contact your local plumbers enthusiast chapter, hopefully they can get that sorted out for you.
