for disturbing animes i'd say madoka magica, evangelion, elfen lied, higurashi, or corpse party
for more happy ones maybe like k-on!, lucky star, school babysitters, or little witch academia
or for more action/suspense ones then attack on titan, death note, demon slayer, lain, or durarara!!

Jojo’s bizarre adventures, a lot of people don’t like the beginning but it’s a ‘trust the process’ kinda show, i had to drag myself at first but its litch my fav anime now <3

FateZero is a pretty good anime and it's pretty long (bc there are more series of it) to keep you busy.

Literally any show from the magazine Manga Time Kirara. Not a single girl is straight in those series (well, except for Blend-S). Someone else mentioned it too but Yuuki Yuuna is a Hero is awesome as well! Plenty of wholesome gay moments in that series.

platinum end, (only 6 eps out rn but you should really pick it up, it’s about angels choosing a new god)
jobless reincarnation, it’s on the second season right now! (it’s about magic)
zatch bell (hilariously old but also just hilarious)
blue period (about painting, but beautifully done with a hint of comedy)
komi can’t communicate (this is about a girl with communication disorder and can’t talk to people :( but also is a bit of a comedy)
moriarty the patriot ( a bit of mystery and pyscho horror in the story of john moriarty which is sherlock holmes nemesis)
banana fish if you wanna cry :D
devil may cry (poor animation bc made in 2007 but nice xfiles style of anime)

Whenever someone asks for anime recs I always say:
Soul Eater, Attack On Titan, Charlotte, Tokyo Ghoul, Death Note, Assassination Classroom, Black Butler, Nanbaka, Devilman Crybaby, Banana Fish, and Another.
I know most of them are main stream but they're still good. :)
