Jesus Christ the messiah is God the father born as a man, who only did the will of him who sent him. Jesus lived a perfect life, perfect in that he did the will of God the father and not his own.
We all fall short of this.
To be a Christian is to believe in him, and yes be like him, but believe in who he is and what is sacrifice meant for all humanity. He took upon him the sins of the world, so that THROUGH him we may have reconciliation with God.
