i'm pretty new to alternative fashion, ive only ever gone through that 2016 tumblr grunge phase, but i've recently gotten into harajuku and visual kei inspired fashion. any tips for age appropriate outfits?

It honestly depends on the style you are interested in. Subcategories such as eroguro kei would most likely be too much for someone younger, but if you enjoy more colorful things, I would look at oshare kei! I personally am interested in oshare and vkei with a punk twist (i.e. 2000's miyavi). It's easier to gather base pieces such as graphic tees, ripped/colored jeans, etc. Vkei is all about accessories, so you can build off of your basic pieces. you can wear bike chains,collars, wristbands, necklaces, bracelets, hats, etc!
