ok so i mentioned this recently (not here) late night paranoia i'm not sure if it's normal i think in a way it is based on some of my research on the paranormal which i will clarify in a bit so what is this paranoia? well simply put if one is tiered but continues to ignore their body especially after reading watching or hearing some thing chilling like a glitch in the matrix where someone sees themselves in a different room  one will find themselves in a state where they are hyper aware of everything around them like a normal paranoid person would what separates this paranoia from normal paranoia though is when someone is that tiered their brain starts to play tricks on them you're now not just paranoid but you're paranoid in this delusional half dream half reality state you start hearing sounds that arent there seeing things that don't exzist and getting lost in thought in this state is super dangerous cuz then you'll start looking over your back for things you normally wouldn't things like demons ghosts apparitions that even if they where there they wouldn't make their presence that obvious one could almost feel themselves within a dream almost like they're lucid dreaming at this point but haven't crossed over into the dream state first i suppose you might be experiencing both this dimension and another at the same time kinda like you're high but it's not quite like that cuz instead of mystifying theres something terrifying about it and this is where i clarify my previously mentioned research into the paranormal it's been stated one of the most common times people see ghosts are at times when people are tired this could be the link see if you're aware of the state you may see less hallucinations cuz you almost instantaneously recognize it as a trick the mind is playing on you but at the same time just that knowledge still puts you on edge gives the chills but if you're not aware of being in the state you may see more hallucinations cuz you can't very well recognize that your brain is playing tricks you may realize though that you're still awake and this is when the before reports start to make sense these people had 2 things in common 1 they where tired and 2 they all talk about feeling a sense of terror the kind that a paranoiac person feels i'd like to make clear this is not me saying that such things don't exzist i do very much so believe they do but reports from people in this state are not ones i'd take seriously i take reports like the guy who walked by a graveyard alone to hear someone's laughter from no where far more seriously because i know they wern't in said state anyways kinda just felt like talking about this odd state of being tired it's not something you likely run into often if you have a set sleep sceadual but i sleep when my body tells me it's time and i agree with my body as a result i've felt this way more often than i probably ever should get some rest and i'm ok again which is why i know it's connected to my level of awakness

Makes me wonder if I have a similar thing. I thought it was normal paranoia (may still be idk), but I also know that I’ve seen things or swore I saw something. Specially when I’d look at reflections, or glass doors at night, and swear I’m seeing some dark figure peaking out. Or when I was younger, I would straight up see this like staticky serpent esc thing that would fly around my room. Another time, middle of the night, I swore I saw this like army of ants and such climbing all around the couch, but no one else could see.

not quite the moment you're aware it will disappear specifically the ants thing sounds more like a schizophrenia to me late night paranoia is very similar to normal paranoia but with an added state where your mind can easily play tricks on you if your experience you've put here happens often i would probably go find a therapist and talk to them about it you did mention late at night so it could be that the paranoid feeling does add fuel to the state of mind
