They were super cool, had voice chat and everything, even on a 56K modem before the days of broadband internet. I remember trolling people on the voice chat constantly using Arnold Schwarzenegger soundboards.
ICQ and AOL chatrooms were also amazing. Wish there was still a decent website for public chatrooms!
