Any podcast creators on spacehey yet?

Forum: Podcast

I've worked on / helped on 4 different podcasts over the past couple years, am finally going to launch my own in 2021. Since it will be of the "lone weirdo with a microphone" genre, I don't expect to get millions (or even thousands) of subscribers & downloads, nor do I expect to "monetize" it. I just want to create something out of my own head.  Anyone else?

Answering EVA's question:

I think 'lone weirdo with a microphone' is as close as I can get to an explanation so far. I've been writing monologues/essays of various kinds - some are pure fiction, some are autobiographical, some are somewhere in between the two. Some aren't even essays. So it wouldn't be like 'radio shows' or 'audio dramas' or any one format. IS it possible for a podcast to be almost like an audio abstract art project?  [keep in mind, I did admit that it isn't likely to generate a huge audience, lol]

Right now, there's a short teaser/introductory episode. Probably gonna record the first episode in the next couple of weeks, and hopefully have it posted/launched soon after.

Thank you all for the replies - after typing this message, I will check out all your links and podcasts etc. ... I don't think spaceHey has actually built the IM or the messaging tabs yet, so these slow, group-wide, general replies are currently the only option.

I am glad to read that there are people working on similar, personal podcasts - there is still room for individual wierd-ism and art, right?

I have one on my YouTube Channel. It's gone through a few name changes since starting it in the Summer of 2019 but every iteration is still viewable on the channel. www.youtube.com/rantingnrolling (you will be able to tell the podcast episodes from the solo content). Still trying to get my first 1000 subscribers over there, as well as on my TikTok. The content creation is not the hard part, by any stretch of the imagination. It's trying to get listeners/viewers/followers/subscribers. It's fun but I just hope it doesnt end up feeling like work.

I love podcasts and I'd be down to listen to people here. Currently I listen to Legends: A Hero Story, which is a D&D style group with a superhero rulebook they're publishing soon, can't wait to get it and play. I have aa few book and publishing ones and a couple creepy-pasta ones. I listen to to them while I'm writing, which is weird, I know, I'm a bit of a multitasker. The creepy-pastas are for before sleep.

I've been doing a podcast for about 3 years now!
You should check us out, we recently started streaming our episodes live on twitch!

We're called "World's Greatest Complainer" and it's a comedy podcast where we complain about things (Which I guess it every podcast, but we're the world's best at it.)

I have a youtube channel which could be consumed like a podcast because most of the videos are just me talking into the camera. thrilling, I know.  I totally respect that you do your podcast for yourself, I am totally the same way.  I was searching for very specific content on youtube and when I didn't find it, I decided to make it.  I've met a lot of really interesting people as a result so if any of you folks are thinking about creating content, do it

I have two podcast im currently apart of! One is for local topics around my area (from San Antonio. TX) the other one is my own spinoff called Texocity (on YouTube under the username 210 Culture) where I talk about crimes etc around Texas. I've honestly been pretty lazy posting since it takes such a lengthy amount of time researching cases, recording, and editing but I need to get back on it!

Will definitely sub to yours!

Oh. Absolutely!

Links are on Spotify, but they’re available wherever you listen to podcasts. 💕

They’re all smaller indie productions, helmed by one or two people. So if you like them, they always appreciate social media interaction, reviews, etc.

The Devil Hates Mondays is an audio comedy about a guy who hates his job, and inadvertently makes a deal with the Devil , and.... it doesn’t quite pan out how he thought. (Some 18+ content, think lust demons.)  We just finished season 1- it’s a great time to jump in.

Moonbase Theta, Out is an emotionally loaded sci-fi podcast about the last twenty days of Moonbase Theta, as they prepare for shutdown and return to earth. The first season is single narrator, mini eps. Diary style. (Listen to the season 1 super cut for the best experience.)

Season two runs parallel, with a full cast. So you see what actually happens, from their perspective.

We’re mid season 3 currently, and man. Shit is going down.

Witches of the City is a smaller podcast, about a small coven of witches that live in the city. 15 year old Lia Rowse is the youngest member of her coven, and is applying to the Witchcraft Guild of North America. The process goes awry, and she finds out a member of her coven has been up to some shady things, that she hasn’t clued her sisters in on..

This ones very close to the end of its first season!

Been doing it for 16 years, after about 5 years it got picked up by a couple radio stations.  What you want to do is build up your listener base.  when that happens you have a few options.  You can start a subscription service, or you can sell ads.  You want to wait until you have at least maybe 10,000 subscribers and be sure you are maintaining a good review rate.  Consistency is also something advertisers look for.  Make sure you are consistent down to the hour.

I recently launched mine called "Shamrock Social".   It is going to be a mix of things I uploaded 2 what I am calling beta episodes. They give a feel of what I am going for. I'm aiming to start going for weekly episodes starting with this coming week.

Also going to be looking for guests for a variety of topics. The first big one I am planning is around "Cancel Culture". Message me if you are interested in learning more about that episode or wanting to take part.

Hey there!

We're an early 2000's pop punk and emo podcast called Reminiscent. One of our cohosts Tom also produces podcasts and coaches audio for podcasting for a living!

If anyone is into that kind thing, you can check out our show at www.reminiscentpodcast.com.
Some of our most recent episodes include the music videos for Bedroom Talk by The Starting Line and Since U Been Gone by A Day to Remember, and we also recently drafted our favorite album openers! Spoilers, but My Last Semester and Say Anything (Else) made the list!

I'm completely new to this social media, but I too have a podcast where my friend and I talk about horror movies, and we give our overall opinions on the films we cover. But we also do skits at the beginning of every episode as a way to start the podcast through story telling.
Anyways here's the link if any of you are interested. Much love!
