hi!! I've decided to be more active here because i believe we have to create as much as we consume, so today im here to talk about my new favorite subgenre of vaporwave, signalwave/broken transmission!!1!
signalwave began taking shape as a distinct microgenre in the early 2010's. while vaporwave obsesses over nostalgia and lost media, this subgenre strips that fixation down to its barest bones. instead of heavily reworking corporate jingles or smooth jazz, signalwave relies on raw, direct samples from vintage television and radio broadcasts, often leaving them almost completely untouched.
listening to the tracks reminds me of my dad watching tv in my room while i was trying to sleep when i was little. it creates such a nostalgic, dreamy atmosphere which i love.
