Welcome to the Movie Club! Here is all the info you need to know.
We each take turns choosing movies, and it goes in order of who joined first. So if you joined first, you pick first, second you pick second, etc. until all members have picked and the list starts over again.
Under every movie choice post you must either comment a check mark ✅ or an X ❌. If you put a check mark, you opt in to the movie and discussion, and if you post an X, you opt out, but you must provide your cause (ex. too gory, too sexual.) If the cause is personal to you and you would rather not share, just say "Sensitive topic." If you will be busy on the discussion days and can't discuss the movie, say "Absent."
If the majority of the members post an X with reasonable cause, the movie is vetoed and the chooser must choose another one by the end of the day.
Movie discussions will have a template posted in the forum with questions to answer. There will be two templates: a template used for every movie, and a template specially made for that week's movie. You don't have to use the templates, but it is required that you post some thoughts on the movie. If you don't post anything and you don't say that you will be absent, you will be kicked for inactivity.
Analyses and template answers should be posted in the forum. Everyone should post one forum post per week, no more. This is to prevent clogging the forum. Immediate thoughts, reactions, questions, and anything you'd like to share outside of your forum post should go on the bulletin board.
When you join the club, you should make a bulletin introducing yourself. Share your name, pronouns, and some favorite movies. This is so we can all get to know each other if we're not already friends, and also so I can add you to the movie choosing roster.
Please keep discussions civil. Criticisms and bad ratings of the movie are allowed, but no personal attacks on the movie chooser or other discussers. If you insult somebody or start a fight, you get one warning. If it happens again, you will be banned. This is a group to share our love of movies, so keep things positive!
