conformity (?)

Is it weird to change aesthetics or not have a fixed set of style??? i dont know, i cant really pick only one aesthetic. Like yeah i was lookly girly today and then wear baggy tmr and look grunge the next. like why conform to one style? y do i have to only wear one specific style ? i realllllyyy hate when people try to assume my style but like i love the freedom to wear whatever i want. i love all sorts of clothes ykwim. anyways thats all for my rant idk if anyone is struggling with this 2 ://

not weird at all, in fact this is so real!! i feel like i don't really have a fixed style either, and while i often dress kinda emo adjacent, i'll always just mix and match stuff i have for funsies. sometimes i'll dress more grungey or very "twelve year old boy" LOL. and while i do dress more masc usually, i got this super cute lolita blouse and have been trying to find excuses to wear it out bc it's so pretty~ there's too many fun fashion styles too just stick to only one!!

I support the two above. Heck with the amount of aesthetics today, you can mix all of them to create your own aesthetic.

My no.1 tip always and forever is never name your style. Do not have an "aesthetic". Ever.

In my opinion naming a style immediately kills whatever passion and creativity behind it, turning it from something that was hand crafted by you because you liked it, to some sort of tiktok-esg commodity. It's your style. Keep it to yourself and don't let others pressure you into turning it into an entire aesthetic.

On aesthetics, I feel like the way people approach aesthetics these days is all wrong. Most of the time by naming an aesthetic as your style (which are two very different things!), you needlessly box yourself into categories. You don't wear what you really want to because it "doesn't fit your aesthetic". Fuck it we ball. Wear whatever you want and don't think about having a personal brand or whatever the fuck.

All of the people I have met that have a very specific "aesthetic" that they boast as being their whole style, and everything they own, everything they say and do, is part of an aesthetic, are the most fakey disingenuous loser posers ever.

Not to say that taking inspiration is a bad thing, but subscribing to one premade aesthetic and calling it personal style is the evil thought process that social media and fast fashion companies want you to take part in.
