Hello! I'm new to the group and am taking a leap of courage posting today. I'd love to make to new friends and post more though! I bough Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi a little over a year ago and just got around to reading it while at my hair appointment this weekend. I picked it up as a refresher, as I've been heavily invested in Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky. I knew the premise of the book, but the depth that was created in so few pages was astonishing. This book is immediately on my favorites list, and I plan to buy the next book when I get the opportunity. Deeper meanings in the story jumped out to me, although Kawaguchi seemed to weave them into the storyline and backgrounds so seamlessly. It really reminded me that time is such a tricky construct. It reminded me not to waste time with the people I love and to say the things that weigh on my heart. This book has been weighing on my mind so heavily since I put it back on my shelf.
I'd love to hear what other people who have read it thinks. Do you recommend the rest of the series? I have high hopes lmao
