theres no requirement to bein’ a furry. Of course, many people have fursonas, but you dont require one. Its always a fun idea to mkae one, though! You may feel obligated to get into fursuiting, which, NOT needed at all! Most furs dont have, nor even want a fursuit at all

Don’t gotta call yourself a fur either! The only rule all furries want you to follow: Have fun with it! Nobody is here to judge, just enjoy the community and the friends you meet :)

its like asking some pro artist for help w/ smt VERY specific abt ur drawings and they just tell u "oh stoppp it! it already looks amazing! just keep practicing!" and then they just like disappear

by enjoying furry streamers/vtbers, that makes you a furry! but if you want to find furries irl thats a whole other thing.

You can also find local meetups through social media or meetup websites like meetup.com

and you are 100% allowed to participate in cons and meetups even if you dont have a fursona or a fursuit, the point is to make friends and have fun!

Furry is just a label. You choose how you want to identify. I know furries who don't even have fursona's and they have been in the fandom for decades. Theres lots of free to use bases you can download and throw into MS Paint or other photo editing programs to colour and design yourself a fursona. 

There are a bunch of different ways to interact with fellow furries. If you don't already have furry friends, stuff like conventions and meetups are a good place to meet them. You don't need a fursuit to participate. Or you can convert already existing friends into furries and bam you have furry friends. Finding people online is also a thing you can do. Interact with artists, join roleplay groups if that's something you like, etc.

Technically you don't even need to actively participate in the fandom in order to be a furry. I read the other replies and they have a good point. A furry is just a label. If you consider yourself a furry, you're a furry.
