Well, my sister has been looking for a job for a year now, but no one will hire her. I wonder if appearance matters when looking for a job. Do they hire the prettiest but least skilled person? I've seen good-looking people working in fast food hundreds of times. Is that just a coincidence, or does appearance really matter a lot?

Definitely! They want people who look well groomed, healthy and approachable. Those are things you can achieve as well. You don't need to be born pretty in order to become pretty :)
