I originally intended to make a funky database thing for people to peruse, but alas various hurdles presented themselves, and to this day I have not figure out a way to overcome them... so here's a forum post for the -2 people who still browse this group to check out! This would've been more difficult to make back before the demise of Flash, as new animals were still being added to the game and pre-existing animal release dates seem to be quite random, but now that things are a lot slower for Classic, it seems AJHQ have decided to go with a more consistent release schedule.
Animals listed are available at that time yearly unless otherwise stated. If an animal is said to come every odd year, I mean it returns in years like 2021, 2023, 2025 etc. Likewise, if an animal returns every even year, it comes back in years like 2022, 2024, 2026 etc.
This is all subject to change, of course! It's all based on release dates as recorded for each animal on the Animal Jam Classic Wiki:
Permanently available: Arctic Wolf, Bunny, Dolphin, Eagle, Horse, Koala, Legendary Eagle, Monkey, Octopus, Panda, Penguin, Sea Turtle, Seal, Tiger, Wolf
January: Snow Leopard, Snowflake Arctic Wolf
February: Lynx, Polar Arctic Fox, Polar Bear
March: Elephant, Goat, Owl
April: Crocodile, Fearsome Falcon, Flamingo (every even year), Lemur (every odd year), Pig
May: Clydesdale Horse (every even year), Cougar (every odd year), Fox (available since May 2024, this may change), Frolicking Fox, Otter, Spring Bunny (has not been released since 2022)
June: Kangaroo (every odd year), Lion, Rainbow Raccoon, Royal Red Panda, Sheep (every even year)
July: Enchanted Eagle, Fennec Fox (every odd year), Giraffe, Llama, Shark (every even year)
August: Cheetah, Coyote (every odd year), Red Panda, Toucan (every even year)
September: Autumn Coyote, Direwolf (every even year), Falcon, Rhino
October: Hyena, Raccoon (every even year), Skunk, Sloth (every odd year), Spooky Snow Leopard
November: Arabian Horse, Camel (every odd year), Great Horned Owl, Sabertooth (every even year)
December: Arctic Fox (has been available since December of 2024 so this may change), Deer (same situation as Arctic Fox), Jamaaliday Deer (may be every even year... unsure), Moose
