Engine and Transmission swapping

If i had a different car that had the same V8 5.0L Windsor engine with the 4 speed automatic transmission would it fit into my car the same way as the old one? or does it HAVE to be from the SAME EXACT car?

been on a hunt for a certain car and came across one with a faulty transmission, a friend of mine gave me a list of fords that had the same engine and told me "the actual part shouldn't be hard to find" and "more likely than not its the exact same part" though i want some clarification from anyone who's done it or know if it really is or not.
(some may wonder why im asking a question like this on spacehey, my answer is im not the brightest.)

We wouldnt know for sure unless you specify which make, model and year/gen the car is. Generally, there shouldnt be much on an issue if it's the same exact model+year. Even a different year of the car can have parts that don't fit (like engine mounts) that you might have to diy to get it to fit. I highly encourage to do more research and search on reddit if sm1 else has done what youre doing!!

thats the issue, its like nobody has. i tried looking on reddit but its like nobody has and if they did they just grabbed the same engine and transmission from the same car

im trying to see if there is any other options for a 91 grand marquis LS (Or GS whatever one i get)because i saw a couple that have a bad transmission,  but attempting to find a 2nd if we do get the first is gonna cost more money and is really hard to find considering how rare it is to get your hands on one in good and or decent condition at a good price, it has a 5.0 v8 Windsor engine which is supposedly common, and a friend gave me a list of cars that have the same engine but i want to know from someone whos done any sort of swapping on anything to determine if they would be completely compatible or not.

(P.S ive tried all night last night researching to find out and a whole bunch of nothing so far has come up, and im very close to just cutting my losses and buying a beater)

I recently asked myself exactly the same question when considering an engine replacement for my car. I had a V8 5.0L Windsor with a 4-speed automatic, and I thought that if I could just get the exact same engine from another car, there wouldn't be any problems. In reality, it turned out there are many nuances: the mounts can be slightly different, and the electronics and sensors may not be fully compatible. Therefore, it's important not just to get an engine with identical specifications, but to consider all the parts for the specific model and year. Personally, I decided to turn to the professionals, and it was an excellent decision. The specialists at vip-servicecenter.com performed a full compatibility check, prepared all the mounts, and installed the engine perfectly, without any unnecessary modifications.
