Forum: Music

i wanted to have an area where we share our underrated artists/music (obvio) to give them some more love. self-promoting would be okay and just as great. in reality, i just really wanted to try and give a broader audience to some artists i really love or have high hopes for. they need a bigger fandom for sure. of course this will all be with light explanations. i'll probably add more as i go along or make an entry dedicated to this.

community spotify playlist (hope this is okay, pls add your own)

artists (listeners/followers, solo/duo/band/etc.) – light explanation
socials (if applicable)

acid cherry (781 l/1k f, band) – discovered trying to find new bands to listen to. they are considered grunge and nu-metal. i love their sound, but im pretty sure i only really enjoy one song by them. i don't think i've had time to fully explore yet, though.
their linktree

olivia ruby (1k l/5k f, solo) – discovered her on youtube when i was in hs when she was releasing her 'i wrote a song for you' series. i'm not sure i would consider her popular, but neither not popular because she was in a band (boys world) for quite some time and they didnt do terrible in numbers. she is definitely just pop overall, i wouldn't know what other genres to classify her as. her music meant so much to me during the time i listened.

broken at best (12k l/39k f, solo) – discovered him around 202/2021 during the big tiktok era and continued to wait for more music. pretty decent. he's alt/indie but leaning towards folk, i believe. he has a really strong voice and great guitar skills. music may be a bit on the depressing side.

lia lia (30k l/21k f, solo) – discovered on spotify looking for some new artists with not much. i LOVE her, her song is the one on my profile (it was between her and memi). she is alt/indie but leans towards experimental pop, grunge, and punk inspired. her sound is very unique to me.

risy (85k l/10k f, solo) – discovered i think on spotify looking for new artists, but i can't remember. she has a really pretty voice and lots of potential. i enjoy like one song by her though. she considers herself 'mostly pop, sometimes jazz'. i wish i liked more of her music, but it's not quite for me yet.
ytinsta - @risywhistles

memi (96k l/97k f, solo) – discovered on insta when she released that one song about her dad (really sad, but it explains how i feel so much. this is the other song i wanted on my profile). love her so much. i'd say she is more alt/rock. her voice is really nice and she sings with great emotion.

fran vasilic (112k l/120k f, solo) – discovered through tiktok (i assume during 2020) with his 'eyes blue' cover. a nice raspy unqiue voice i love. i genuinely wish he was more active. i just consider him alt/indie or indie pop.
his linktree

rin (203k l/79k f, solo) – discovered her on youtube trying to find new music. she doesn't have very much, and her music isn't the best, but she has some great ones. i'd say she's bedroom pop maybe. her music can be really dreamy, and her voice is soft. she for sure has lots of potential for more.
her linktree

jhariah (228k l/166k f, solo) – discovered on instagram through a video of his promoting 'risk, risk risk!' it gave me soad vibes, but also not really? his sound is very unique for sure, could be considered pop, punk, maybe rock elements.
his linktree

baby bugs (393k l/209k f, solo) – discovered on spotify, although majority has probably heard her viral song "hey bunny." she is maybe alt/pop or dark pop if that's actually a thing. i love her voice and style of music, it's so soft but not at the same time. i relate to a handful of her music.

jasiah (1m l/418k f, solo) – discovered through an old friend in high school with "shenanigans." i enjoy his style of music, it's so specific. i'd consider him to be screamo rap and trap metal with rock elements. i think he might be pretty well known though, but i never hear anyone talking about his music anywhere except reddit.

lyn lapid (1.8m l/811k f, solo/sometimes has a band?) – discovered her (prob in 2020 can't remember) on tiktok when she was trying to release "producer man." she is a tad more popular than the rest and i'd 100% consider her a rising artist now, getting the attention she deserves. i'd consider her indie pop. her voice is very dreamy and she's come so far.
