The 18+ groups in the Discord group will simply be locked off to those who don't have the 18+ tag, and won't require accounts that Discord forced to be at risk of doxxing. Discord can Discordeez nuts.

jeez when i found out about this update, like before yesterday, my whole day was ruined. i know it's quite a stretch but if i wasn't at work at that time i would straight up cry over it - the idea of the whole internet getting worse each day, my favourite apps getting more and more corrupted and unusable without giving out my personal information was so depressing. i've never been more grateful about spacehey tbh

Yeah, people are jumping ship left and right. There's no clear direction yet, or critical mass, and not much time left, but we'll see.
