Okay so this is very just solely qualitative and not really anything measurable, but basically there are a handful of specific moments in my lifetime (Gen Z) that I feel were moments that revealed the current position of the Overton window, and reveal it's rightward shift. I'm in the age range where my political comprehension only began to develop during the 2016 election season, so ultimately this is based on a very short fragment of history.
And this post is not going to be finished for a while because I'm gonna add more explanation over time, but the basic premise of what I was thinking about are the following events.
Adoption of the term "Alternative Facts"
The Muslim ban executive order.
Unite the Right, Charlottesville
Covid 19
Roe v Wade Overturned / or Elon Buying Twitter
October 7th
Trump second term
