lately i've been thinking a lot about old mmo's from my childhood that have since had their servers killed, particularly free realms and worlds.com (which just shut their servers down last year). i was curious to hear about other games that are no longer available to play, since it seems like the trend of nuking support for live-service games is only continuing to grow.

I miss the nostalrius wow private server, it sucks blizzard shut them down cause that was a cool community.

it's not necessarily a game that's had its server shut down, but i miss old girlsgogames/.com before flash player was killed

there was this saga of games called like Star something in japanesse, and the sole purpose was to find the star in each level, each level had like a different mechanic, it was pretty fun for me. I played it on Friv.com but it doesnt work anymore, RIP Flash

On the Minecraft website, you used to be able to play a demo version. It was of a earlier build even when this was available. You were able to join multiplayer in this version. Because lava didn't have proper physics yet, it's spread more like a virus than a liquid. That got turned into a game mode where you had to build a home that could withstand the lava before the lava could get to you
Some people tried to be fancy about it. I just made a giant tower from bottom to the top. It's about a chunk in within. It was even more fun when I made it out of sand so I can watch it all turn to glass. The most enjoyable thing for me was the people who didn't finish their builds in time so they would rush into my build. It made me feel like I was running a hotel. Especially when they would build floors. I miss that gamemode a lot.

I played a lot of Epic Duel in middle school and found my account but sadly the game has no players. It feels so weird wandering around the map and seeing nobody in the main hall.
