book recommendations??

Hi!! I've been a witch in theory for years but have yet to really get into practice beyond a couple spells. Are there any books you guys would recommend?? Specifically on the History of paganism and kitchen witchery?? I don't really want to jump right into spell work, just want to learn more about the basics to build a strong foundation.
