So, I'm an art student and my current projet is to draw a short comic (two A3 pages) so it can by submitted to a contest !!
The thing is, I like drawing but am reaaaally bad at writing stories...
You could basically write any story you want as long as you follow one of the sentences our teachers gave us. I chose "Correspondence", "Two characters communicate but never see each other" so I immediately thought "I'm gonna write about two teens chatting on a social media!!" (I thought about Spacehey btw >:3)
Basically, I wanted to tell the story of two young boys (16 and 17 yo) who both have complications in their lives and talk to each other to feel better. The first one is Cleo, he is bi and wants to have a career in fashion, he likes to draw and create clothes, but his friends at high school are the conservative and judging kind and he knows for sure that admitting who he really is and likes to them would do nothing great, so he just pretends around them. Only his mom as always been supportive of his carreer dreams.
The other boy is William, he's transgender and gay, and wants to pursue art in the future, more especially he wants to make videogames. But his parents are the super conservative and strict kind. They obviously don't know that their "daughter" is trans, and they only let him go to additional art classes in exchange of excellent school results.Theses art classes and Cleo are William's only ways of escaping when he gets excluded at school and feels like his parents will never love him the way he is.
Now, that the two characters are settled, here's what I thought would happen : William's parents take him off of his art courses because his grades are getting too low for them and they think he needs to focus more on "classes that actually matter". He takes him deeper in his already existent depression so to cope he tries to escape on the Internet, all night and day, sending messages to Cleo all the time. But it's not enough and one day he attempts suicide. He fails and ends up in the hospital.
On Cleo's side, he just sees his friend sending him messages aaall the time, and being constantly online. He worries and tries to ask him questions but William don't actually answer them. Then one day William totally stops sending him messages.
Basically I want to make Cleo's pov on the first page and William's on the second page, and make a small scene where we see them meeting irl for the first time at the end of both pages.
If you read until here, thank you so much !! I thought I'd post here to get advices on my story from people who actually write, unlike me xd (even if I'd like to try one day!) Because I feel like my story is a bit ass...
