Like a lot of people in the emo/alt scene in the 2010s, I grew up feeling like I was worthless and broken. I didn't want or expect to live until adulthood. It's great to have music that helps you feel seen, understood, and like you aren't alone in those times. It's even better to have music that tells you to fight back.
This is why I will always have a special place in my heart for the music and comics of the Danger Days world. After spending most of my teens struggling to find a reason to keep going, suddenly there was this album that said: "Enough with being sad, it's time to get angry."
So whatever is giving you hell, whether it's a person, situation, or a chemical imbalance - you have the power to fight it. It might win. Who cares? At least you went down swinging.
In the face of extermination, say FUCK YOU.
