Well, we still have Komodo dragons so I would have to say are pretty close because imagine how big those suckers must have been in prehistoric days. They couldn't fly though, but then we had Quetzalcoatlus with wingspans ranging from 17 to 85 feet (5 to 26 meters). Today, the more widely accepted estimate is around 33 feet (10 meters) — that’s longer than a school bus! — earning its title as the largest flying creature in the history of vertebrate paleontology. So yeah, I would say that is as close to a dragon as you're going to get!
