Tips/Haircuts for Thick hair?

Forum: Fashion, Style, Shopping

Maybe this is the wrong forum, but i'd like some tips for haircuts.

Preferably, i'd like a low-maintenance one, since i'm generally lazy and i'm not Smart in the hair department.. if you gave me a straightner i'd probably burn all of my hair off.

i have medium-length thick brown hair, and this makes it hard to keep it tame. it's usually really frizzy and keeps falling over my shoulders to annoy me. Sometimes, miraculously, it looks half decent, but usually it doesn't last long. My mom used to have the same type of hair, and she says that any type of short haircut will make it poof up like a lion's mane. I guess i'm interested in keeping it long or medium-length, though. ALSO, I'm curious if bangs could work? I've noticed that a lot of haircuts i've been drawn to have them, but i think id mess it up somehow or id look too weird.. people have said its not a good idea sometimes. for reference, i have a long-ish face, oval, kinda? Definitely not round.

another thing i've done is (correct me if i'm wrong, i looked it up just now) a brazilian blowout. Basically it makes my hair straighter and heavier. to be honest, i didn't really like it. it made me look stupid as hell..

i've got suspicions that my hair may be like,, Slightly wavy? though usually its REALLY frizzed so i can't even tell..

ANYWAYS. TL:DR = got frizzy long hair, want lazy haircut that lasts, any tips or suggestions??

plz be nice,,,,,

Getting layers was a GAME CHANGER for me at least! Really brings out ur curls and doesnt make ur hair look flat. Play around w that idea? :D Curtain bangs are cute too- it frames ur face and I have a very oval face, gives it some structure.

if you have frizzy hair, you likely have curly or very wavy hair that you aren't conditioning, drying, or combing correctly. Curly/wavy hair can tend towards being porous, which makes it dry, and usually needs some type of oil, butter, or other products to keep it healthy. when the products are not too thick, they should define the curls/waves. I mostly learned this last year from r/curlyhair (i do not have a reddit but it was public) where they had a google doc explaining a ton of it https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Q6Dj9WAZxlfBhJSyS5on2rw3-if5cOV3oV-dQ3B0AHA/edit?pli=1&tab=t.0

I myself had frizzy awful hair that I hated, but I am lazy, so I ultimately settled on keeping my hair in a pixie and using a shea shampoo bar and now my hair is soft, tame, curly in the front, and wavy in the back. for any haircut though, yeah layers are a lifesaver

Thank you for the reply, Gloomy!!

I've heard about the possibility of having curly/wavy hair, but I never believed it too much since I just thought it was kind of a stretch.. I'll look into the document you attached and maybe invest in some other products after some more research. Thanks!
