History books for china that are more introductory

I've been wanting to get back into reading history more. Problem is those books are thick, which I understand obviously theres a lot to unravel. With university though I cant balance reading super long history books and I was wondering if there were like a good series of books on the history of china so I could pick little parts of the history and slowly build up yknow?

Im only just getting back into reading and if theres any other interesting history topics to look into, especially for south Asia, please let me know

Indeed! The literature is quite extensive. I wish I knew another way than long hours reading , coffee and sleepless nights.
