Favourite Forms of Physical Media

haiiii x3!!

im sid (they/she/he)!

whats ur fav form of physical media? does ipods count? I have so much nostalgia for radios and ipods, my brother and sister used to give me their old ipods and upload songs onto them and any time i hear a 90s or 00s pop hit i get teleported back to my pink childhood bedroom. im feeling especially nostalgic for it nowadays, with never-ending subscriptions and all the 'licensing' nonsense, i miss actually just owning music and not having to worry about it getting taken off me or having to constantly pay a small fee. especially considering that the fees dont go to the actual artists, but to pay for WEAPONS!!! i hate it. my best friend/housemate has recently gotten back into cd collecting and cd burning, and its so cool!!! im thinking i might keep an eye out on second hand websites for an old cd player and stereo, with the big square speakers, like my brother used to have.

n e way, lmk what u guys think abt the ressurgance of ipods and wht ur fav form of physical media is and why!

Honestly my twoe favs would be CDs and DVDs! I have less DVDs than I do CDs as of now (As my only DVDs are six seasons of Dr House and a bunch of Barbie movies) but I'm planning to expand this collection a lot :3 Currently for my music I use either a discman or a CD player (I have one for vinyls but I don't use it much) and for my DVDs I'm looking into getting a DVD player since I already have an old TV so why not use it? ANYWAY as to my CD's I mostly have Gorillaz right now since I'm kinda fixated LOL but aside that also MCR and a bunch of old radio mixes

If something doesn't make sense here then I had to leave my computer for a second mid writing and I forgot what I was replying to XD

I am very fond of all types of tape. Old Philips Casetes, yes, but I think there was elegance to 8-track, with it's track seletion system, Reel-to-Reel tape being the pinacle of sound quality, backbone of all music production and where a lot of hi-fi experiments would be happening. Video tape as well, though less so, and with a personal favourite, though sadly not one I ever got to experience being Sony's 8mm casettes, Aka. Video 8, which used to encode sound via FM - same way radio does, for significantly better quality, not to mention how tiny they were in comparison to competition.
