mp3 player recs?/what was ur mp3 player of choice back in the day

i remember having a rlly small rectangular "brat-green" mp3 player, super small no screen or anything on it. i dont remember the brand! and pretty sure its in a box somewhere in the basement of my family-home. anyways recently im interested in getting a mp3 player for myself, so what brands and models did u guys love back in the day/what would you recommend me to buy to use here and now in 2025? :-)
