Floating animation incompatible with corner images?

I want to use the usual floating animation to make the body, navigation bar, etc. float, but I also want to attach images to the corners of the background outside of the floating animation.

However, the floating animation code seems to automatically place the corner images within the body of the profile, not in the background, no matter how much I change their position or z index.

Does anyone know how to make this work?
