I was never a big PC gamer, but a few stand out. One would be
Simcity 2000, which I believe came free with our first “real”
computer (a gateway?). Who thought mapping out utilities could be so
much fun? Lol
Another was
Activision’s Interstate 76. The play was a little clunky and I
could never finish it, but the concept and the soundtrack was killer.
“The children are burning” soundbite and the intro theme still
play in my head. Lol
And lastly, Quake.
After a while I got into the habit of popping in my Steppenwolf’s
All Time Greatest Hits CD and letting it play simultaneously with the
game. The tracks would pair up with game play and it made for an
immersive experience, calmly shredding monsters to a groovy vibe. Lol
