so basically i have curly hair and ive been growing out for a while to get like a curly wolfcut kinda thing but now its pretty flat because all the hairs are pretty close to the same length and i heard the solution was LAYERS so i watched a bunch of yt videos and stuff but and tried a few times but i can never do it properly and now i let my hair grow back again but before i try again i wanted to see if i could get some advice on how to do it ik people usually say go to the salon and get it done but i MUST do it myself there is no other choice unfortunatelyย

I'm not a hairstylist but I did cut my hair myself in a similar way. Unfortunately, unless you straighten your hair every day it's never going to look like the ones online (I know from experience). I only have slightly wavey hair and it still kind of f*cks up the ends to create something new. If you are cutting your hair I personally started by defining the top layer in my hair, but if you only define the top you're going to look like a redneck so you have to define the middle as well. I can link the tutorial I watched for the first five minutes before I gave up and started cutting. I also cut up on the ends to kind of separate them, and to add volume (I can literally show you pictures of my flat hair before and after) I put my hair up every night kind of in a bun. The easiest thing to do is separate your hair into sections and if your hair is really thin maybe consider being a lot less frivilous with the scissors then I'm describing.
