Emma Nelson/Simpson: Character Analysis

Emma Nelson enters the franchise seemingly as the show's protagonist because the show's first episode surrounded her. She initially was very evironmentally and socially aware character that stood up for what she believed in no matter what. However, as she entered highschool, grew more self concious. and (after the shooting) mentally unstable , it was apparent that that part of her character was dwindling away, such examples being how she let go of her feminist values to become a Purple Dragon girl and then flashing the whole school to make a statement. While she means well (I would like to think) in all she does, many of her actions seem to control rather than to help, an example being her going to Snake to tell him about Spike's pregnancy in order to prevent her from having an abortion. Still, Emma's conscience always leads her back to what she feels is right.

In my opinion, I don't really like Emma. I find that she always oversteps when trying to make a point or convince somebody to do something else. I've felt she's been a bit of a bad friend towards Manny especially during her abortion and going after Peter when he was the one who spread that flashing video of Manny. She's also pretty mean to Snake, and sometimes Spike. When she's mad at Snake, it's like such a hard watch especially in the episode where she does a school presentation on how she gets intimate with Sean. At times, she's kind of insufferable, but she's mostly tolerable and likeable. What do you think?
