Happy International Translation Day, 30 September, 2025. 2025 Theme: "Translation, Shaping a Future You Can Trust". Where there is a lot of distrust now due to hatred or anything else, remember that translations can always be generally trusted. Based on the UN General Assembly Resolution 78/266, this year, 2025, is the International Year of Peace and Trust. It recognised the need to prevent and resolve conflict through dialogue and diplomacy. While the translators and interpreters in global negotiations may not be visible, we know that such high-level conversations could not happen without them and could certainly not be entrusted to technology, like AI. You know, my studies in my university is about translation so of course this day is important for me. I learned that no matter how advanced machine translation technology is, in one way or another, their translations may not be correct, or even if they are correct, they may not have the proper context. I'm not saying that we cannot use machine translation like Google Translate or even abandon them. In fact, they are very helpful for translators, but of course their translations should be checked. I use them a lot, really, and I have found so many mistakes they made. Therefore, the translations of translators and interpreters can always be generally trusted.
