Bone scavenging tips?

Hello! I'm new to vulture culture and would like some tips on the best types of places to find bones (I live on the east coast of Vancouver Island), and how to properly clean them to add to my collection! Please add any tips you have to do it safely, as well as how to explain it to my parents.
