at first i was like, its gotta be a wolf/cat. i'm a cat person, i think anthro cats are cute, it just fit. then i realised "i'm not really comitting to the furry-ness here, she's just got fur, ears and a tail. she might as well be cosplaying." so then i started trying to teach myself how to draw actual furry heads. i think the top-right attempt on the left image is a big improvement from somehow a lizard in the top-left, but i began to think, "this looks too tuff to be a selfsona"... like i am just. not metal enough to be a wolf so i decided to completely switch it up and choose my favourite animal, which is a jellyfish.
she's also pretty human-ish but has these freaky tentacle legs/arms which i'm super into stylistically (but are also easy to draw hehe). the 4 leaf clover motif i use on the top of the head, the hem of the ... skirt(?) and the eyes+eyebrows are from the moon jellyfish's gonads, which are their reproductive organs apparently. who knew inktober was so educational ?? anyway i think i overdid it a bit because her dress(?) started to remind me of something a grandma would wear. this isn't necessarily a bad thing, but i generally like to make me selfsonas a little edgy and cute, so it didn't fit that well, especially with the boring floaty hair. apart from those details, i like it.
so i decided to completely switch it up and choose my favourite animal, which is a jellyfish.
