This might be the most common piece of advice but practice! The only way to get better is practicing how to read and speak.

For books I use: Living Language Japanese.

And for a site try Marugoto! It’s good to see how Japanese people actually speak so you can mimic the sounds and get better at speaking yourself.

I like to use childrens songs to get familiar with the alphabet, body parts, introductions, etc. It helped me learn English when I was little, so why wouldn't it work with another language?

Surround urself with everything Japanese! Hang out with Japanese people, speak it, read it, listen to it. Always have a translator or dictionary if you need to know the meaning of something. Always be in a situation where you have to use Japanese. English was my second language and I was able to learn it easily by interacting with other American speakers.

SUPER LATE REPLY just do everyday things but with japanese text (i watch cartoons ive seen thousands of times in my orig language and just switch languages ; thats how i learned english in the very first place)

i also switch instagram and whatsapp's buttons so i instantly know what each word means (or what they are supposed to mean)

third option is to go purposely on japanese learning servers and see how each person speak and figuring out how you can speak to them (linguee, lexilogos, deepl, wiktionary, google lens....)

i hope you're still active and can see what i had to say!!
