New Order? Pet Shop Boys? Depeche Mode? You probably know them, but haven't listed them, so, yeah, recommending them if you don't know them already... Also, for a more underrated band, outside of their biggest hit, Spandau Ballet. I have a feeling Electronic are new wave too? Although, I have a feeling they're more early 90s than 80s... But still worth a listen, cool combination of The Smiths and New Order (it's a band of New Order singer Bernard Sumner and The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr)

Plastics were a Japanese new-wave band that toured with the B-52s! They've got a similar sound and have this delightful cover of The Monkees' "Last Train to Clarksville." Another Japanese group, Ippu-Do, has a great album, Normal, that I really enjoy. A little bit of ska sound too... (Hi, I love ska. Don't let me start talking about ska.)

The Stranglers have dabbled in a few styles over the years (started with a punk sound, then slid into post-punk and new-wave). I'd recommend you check out their records Feline, Aural Sculpture and Dreamtime!

Other honorable mentions: ABC (specifically their album Lexicon of Love), Blotto, the Motels, the Bongos, the Mundanes (if you've heard of They Might Be Giants, lead singer/keyboardist/accordionist/etc. John Linnell was in The Mundanes first!)

manic street preachers' album "The Holy Bible" is one of my fav post-punk records. Very high quality stuff and the lyrics are very philosophical and misanthropic. Would love to moot up!!
