How did you realize that you were a furry?

Way back when a 56k modem was considered fast and a lot of websites were hosted on people's personal computers, I came across some adult Lion King fan art that I enjoyed waaaay more than I expected.

Before that I had enjoyed anthro cartoon characters, but I had never pinned it down to them being furry characters. I enjoyed lots of other human cartoon characters too, after all.

It would be another 2 years before I realized furries were their own thing. Even longer before i really considered myself one.

But that was the start.

When i was much younger i would only read books about animals and in the point-of-view of animals. I would roleplay as a warrior cat on the school playground and would draw fanart of cats, draw me as a cat, and draw human characters as cats. when i grew older i found out what a furry was and realized that it looked fun..thats how i found out

I knew i was a furry when i started hating on furries

I think i´ve always been one too =u= i mean, i always watched so many cartoons w furries such as care bears( my fav ) so...ye, i always love furries but i think i oficially declared myself one in 2021 and now i wanna startmaking my first fursuit >:D

I've just always loved and connected with animals easier than people. I grew up on Wild Kratts and Pokémon and liked to adventure outside and find animals. I used to try to catch birds and would pick up just about any bug I could find. I found out about the fandom in a big transition in my life - Elementary to Middle School. The rest is history I suppose.

Denial than I went to a furry convention, there was no way I could explain that one to myself

i didn't have cable growing up so my house only had satellite with like a handful of channels associated with PBS, one of those channels was Qubo which had a lot of older shows and whenever i tuned in when i was younger there would always be some sort of show with anthro characters on and those were always my favs :3

Animal jam...

i've thought furries and fursuits were cool for a while now but only started calling myself a furry recently. i don't have a fursona yet so it does feel a bit strange to label myself a furry

partially from animal jam and partially just like. looking at peoples sona reference sheets on google and going waow !!!:O 

Star Fox 64 and finding furry art online

i went down the animal jam > warrior cats > furry pipeline, in 2014ish i made my first animal jam account, then found out about amino, then joined animal jam amino and warriors amino, bought the books and started drawing fanart. i was a furry even though i didn’t fully understand what they were but then i joined furry amino and found the wonderful world of fursuiting and i’ve wanted one since !!! 

i love animals even as a kid so naturally was into pokemon back then, discovered deviantart through unrestricted internet access (with some results that younger me was DEFINITELY not meant to see : D ) found some good furry art but younger me didn't know what fursonas and ocs were which made me curious abt the furry fandom in general and uhhhh yea

p.s.: anyone else also indecisive when it comes to making their fursona even after considering themselves a furry? like, literally took me i think 5-6 years after i joined the fandom lolll
