Is anyone here into making site blends?

This is a very early 2000s question, but I've been really curious ^^ Some friends had showed me blends from very old websites, where they would combine texturing, image editing, graphics and fonts to make a custom header for the page.

They genuinely looked so cool, and I was wondering if anyone here likes making them? Cause I tried making them myself, like in my MS Paint fanlisting and the header for one of my OC pages, which I'll show down here.

If anyone has tips on how to make them more genuine, aka 2000s graphic design type of vibe, I'll be looking forward to reading them ^^ Also, yes- the aesthetic in this one I did below was akin to Purikura!

I had never heard of "site blends" before, but I'm totally digging your artwork and the way you combined everything into the banner. In terms of making it feel more 2000's, if you have access to a program like Kid Pix or some other old graphics editor you can use the clip art and text tools from them to get assets. Things were really cheesy and far less refined back then. Graphic design is sadly not my forté. :c I know others here could provide even more helpful insight. Good luck and I want to see what you end up making!!

@tick Ohh yeah! I love Kid Pix a ton <3 I could try using some of its textures to make some more retro looks and whatnot. It could work well, I think. I guess I need some cool composition tips too, on which fun techniques can help bring the whole blend together.

The reason I'm also asking this is because I wanna make a very grungy one for my OCs' rock band! I wish to make a page for them on my website, and if I can get them ooze that early 2000s vibe, it'll be superb x] And heck yeah, I'll be sure to show what I end up creating! It's gonna be super fun-

I JUST remembered that the idea for recommending Kid Pix was from this Youtube video I watched recently where a person makes video thumbnails in Kid Pix. Maybe something she does in the video could be useful? I thought there was another video I watched that was similar, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Maybe I made that one up.

Oh for a grungy vibe maybe look up some old textures and stamps from the ancient DeviantArt days? If you're using text outside a software then look at some ancient fonts off DeviantArt and DaFont.com or similar sites too. Gotta get that perfect look.

@Tick Ohhh, I'm so glad you could send me the video- I'll be following what she shows for sure ^^ I'm still fairly a novice at Kid Pix, mainly using it for art and stuff, so it'll be super cool to make something more vintage/retro with it <3

Also ooo, that's a good idea! I'll try and scavenge for old internet things, so that way I'll get those vibes just right. Part of me was thinking about combining brushes from different softwares, like Paint Tool SAI, CSP and whatnot :]

Happy to help! Definitely use the convenience of modern technology with the assets of the ancient interwebs. I think you'll find a happy meeting place there. If I find any other resource that might be useful I'll post it here.
