bluesky's enshittification is almost near

if you haven't been living under a rock, bluesky will roll out new guidelines starting this october, said guidelines will prohibit any NSFW content to be published on the platform

now you might be asking "why are you, a minor, standing up for literal NSFW artists", well, it's not just that...

bluesky might misinterpret SFW content with queer/trans characters as NSFW because eventually they might find even a singl drawing of a cute furry oc holding a pride flag as fucking porn despite not having anything questionable in said artwork

luckily, there are alternative bluesky services like blacksky or northsky that provide pretty much the same bluesky experience, but with different moderation

i am working on improving skittr and turning it into a full-fledged backend which allows people to use bluesky with a different layer (by that, i mean using bluesky fully independently from bluesky's services)

Why does it seems inevitable when any site that gets big turned into shit nowadays. As if they're afraid to challenge that stupid UK online act.

Censorship of art and fiction cannot be tolerated in any form, otherwise it will ALWAYS turn into a tool of oppression.

Can you tell more about these bsky alternatives? I’m just so pissed that I finally found a place, where I can submit nsfw with GREAT filters, and suddenly they shoot themselves in the foot

How will Bluesky even keep on existing if their whole business model is built around not being Twitter?

I never expected bluesky to be good anyways it's basically twitter but with less people on it. I joined to see what it was all about when it first opened but never really use it going to delete my account since no reason having it up if not using it. Sucks a lot of artists are only on twitter, only reason I have it. I hate how all these countries are passing these age verification laws to "protect the children" that's the parents job i don't trust any company to handle my id as they already can't handle other information either.

The UK refuses to address the elephant in the room of the obesity epidemic, but is very glad to put bans on porn (which is something only adults should consume, but that shouldn't be LAW-ENFORCED in the face against adult autonomy). No bans for ADHD-causing colourants in kids' food however. Funny how that works.

Porn censorship is so ridiculous. People do not really realize the sheer amount of porn really on the internet, and it’s growing every day. It’s an industry that will never die unfortunately.. I do realize it can shield young children and those who are struggling with addiction, but why bother when there are already many parental controls available with internet providers like Verizon Fios and Spectrum? You can configure your router to do so much more than you think, and porn blocking is one of the many functions that are built into your router BY LAW..
