I tried gaming after a while and it made me feel old (rant)

Forum: Games

So I used to play loads of games as a teen, but nowadays I rarely do because of other hobbies getting in the way.

Today I really felt like playing something, so I went on my computer. First Steam said it was downloading, something?? For the game I think? Then it wouldn't start. Actually, none of my games would. I'm guessing Steam failed an update and couldn't start any of my games, which really sucked.

I had a plan B though. I dusted off my old Wii U, and grabbed my copy of Breath of the Wild which I hadn't played yet! Pop it in, and it refuses to start because I need to update my Wii U, and it's storage is FULL

Idk, I really REALLY miss back when you'd just pop rhe game in, click power on and immediately start playing. I really like gaming and I do wanna play at times, but whenever I find a small slot of time to actually play it just won't let me

Thanks for coming to my TED talk. I'm off to buy a used PS1 and play it forever (and Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii U, thank god it worked)

Yea I feel this. This is why I have yet to get any new gen consoles tbh. I have my ps3 for bloodborne and and everything else is on my puter.

I do kinda miss my WII tho. just pop in a disc you get a cool little loading screen and kaboosh you're playing.

It feels kinda bad to not physically own alot of my games, just gotta hope steam never dies IG

For sure I gave up on modern gaming ngl, or at least I'm taking a break from it. Got myself a PS1 and have been playing Spyro 2 on it, and I'm in LOVE ♡♡ Named the PS1 Endre, he's such a good boi

Seriously tho, I missed putting the game in and playing right away so much. Even the fact that if I'm checking my memory card and put in a game while still in that menu, I don't have to do anything for it to go into the game! It's so nice ;-;

Modern gaming definitely has it's perks, but the simplicity of just putting in a disc or cartridge and it just... running? Magical. I think I also feel a similar way about older games on PC though, something about a full size game that's less than 20GB makes me very happy.
