Tips on adding on paper strands to lashes?

Sometimes it feels the beauty industry can't keep up with us drag queens and our lash needs. 

I've been thinking of adding black paper strands to my lashes to make them really long and spiky.

Would any of you divas with experience making paper lashes have any advice on how to execute this properly? (eg. how to curl the stands, how to keep the curl, if i can use lash glue)
