so i've always loved skyrim, one of my fav games ever, but i acknowledge its flaws. i thought most ppl were the same as me until a couple years ago when it became cool to hate on it and act like its not good at all?? what r ur thoughts?
personally, i think the atmosphere and map design are top notch, and even if the story is nothing to write home about, it feels appropriately grand to me. not to mention, the gritty artstyle is great and super consistent. i specifically love the heavy use of white highlights to make everything feel more washed out! gameplay-wise it is very shallow and simple, but i never saw that as much of a bad thing. it is supposed to be a simple but fun rpg for just bashing bad guys on the head, idk why it should be on the same level as something like morrowind. this is not to minimize the issues, there are a lot of genuine HUGE issues with the mechanics, but it never felt weird to me that they aren't complicated, that's just not the game it's trying to be yknow? i feel like a lot of this might also be what ill call the "pokemon effect" where people play something an insane amount as a child/teenager and then expect to never get tired of that thing, and then when they inevitably do, they say it's the games fault, it was never good in the first place anyways...
idk those r just my thoughts, what r yours?
