Taking rats for walkies?

If I get a tiny rat leash, can I walk my rats? I know rats can get diseases from other animals from walking in grass/on the ground, but what if I kept the rat on my shoulder? Is this too stressful for a shoulder trained rat?

Super late reply so I don't know if you still need the advice but it honestly depends on the rat. I've taken a few of my rats outside before (in a carrier) and they were relatively fine. It's important to note that rats are prey animals and may get startled easily from public noises.

Also I don't recommend using a leash, use a harness instead. Mainly to keep the rat from falling of your shoulder.
