Forum: Pets and Animals

HAII this is just a ramble/infodump about some stuff (positive ramble lol). uh if youre interested in knowin what it’s like in the country or your just wanna read my ramble then here i go :3

there will be mentions of bugs/insects and gunshots/hunting so if you don’t wanna hear that I recommend leaving! the latter will only be talked about in reference to hearing the gunshots and hunting season, not about me hunting.

if you want to humor me and respond then I’d love it!!

first off ANIMALS & plants

obvi in the country there’s gonna be animals all over but this is abt the different WILD animals (specifically wild, not farm ones bc i see them year round)

I get up at 5am in the morning so when i go outside the animals i often hear are foxes and coyotes. foxes more so. there is a vixen southwest of my house right now who i hear often. if you don’t know what a vixen’s call is then LOOK IT UP AND LSITEN TO IT. it sounds like a human scream. it’s not rly scary to hear tho especially when ur used to it.

bug wise most of the bugs i see now are year round bugs EXCEPT woolly worms! aka woolly bugs, woolly caterpillars, etc. there are a few types of woolly bugs, but most i see are the larvae of the isabella tiger moth. they come around late summer/fall, usually for me they symbol the beginning of fall. they can’t bite or sting but the hairs on their body can cause skin irritation.

right now it is hunting time! that means whenever I’m outside I’ll usually hear gunshots. I’m used to it but i know sometimes I’ll have sleepovers with my friends and when we go outside and they hear it they get nervous. there are many hunting seasons through the year but i think fall is the busiest.

besides the animals listed there are some others, but these are more pens i see all year round. I’ll just do a short list: Virginia opossums (my favorite animal!), raccoons, deer, allllll kinds of birds, beavers, ground hogs, many bug species, etc etc.

im not big on plants but there are a few i see often. one of the most prevalent are tiger lilies! they are my favorite flower. i also see some other but most I don’t know by name. we get a good amount of poison ivy but FUN FACT im immune to poison ivy! i get a tiny reaction like a little bit of redness but it barely itches and goes away within a day or so. i know this because…i have a tendency to get into a lot of things outside. we also have nettles but much less then poison ivy.

PEOPLE OF THE COUNTRY!!

alright section two! this is abt the kind of people who are in the country and is mostly just a ramble about amish and mennonites.

ok so amish people are SO NICE AND SWEET??? like how does no one talk about this. where i live there are tons of Amish and mennonite people and they are always so nice to me. this one house near me has two dogs and two little kids and when i wave they wave back to me and when i drive past of my golf cart their dogs run out to get pet by me. one dog is a poodle mix with different colored eyes and the other is a bernese mountain dog. they life on this pretty big farm with horses and cows and sheep.

my only complaint about amish people is if your trying to go ANYWHERE right after 12pm you will get stuck behind horse and buggies because of them leaving church lol. at least the horses are cute

I’m gonna end it here for now because im hungry and tired and about to leave to go get something to eat so if you read this then i wish you an AMAZING day/night
