I also notice FP allows me to post images on my profile and as comments quite easily. SH doesn/t yet seem to have that feature.

Okay so I’ve looked into both sites. Here are some of the differences.

Primary Audience:
FriendProject seems to be mostly made up of young teens who discovered it through tiktok. I was honestly surprised at the number of literal children (13-) on the site. SpaceHey seems to have a pretty evenly spread audience, with a lot more 20+ users. Many of these users were former MySpace kids and are reliving their own nostalgia.

History
One of the biggest turn-offs for FriendProject is its mysterious history. From what I understand, it was originally founded by conservative christians in 2008, but has since been abandoned, leaving a lot of security gaps. In around June 2020, it had a spike in popularity from TikTok, but for everyone sharing their profiles there were other people warning potential users of the uncertain ownership of the site. SpaceHey is a lot more transparent, since it was founded by An in late 2020 and is getting updated to this day. Hence, it is a lot more active and most likely secure.

Features
I think that FriendProject does have a bit of a more distinctive look (uses a red palette instead of blue, etc.), whereas SpaceHey is a more dedicated MySpace replica. I wasn’t there for the MySpace era though, so take that with a grain of salt. From what I’ve seen, FP asks for age, country, etc. - this is optional though - and searches for people can be narrowed down using filters. I’m not sure if you can add music on FP. Additionally as mentioned earlier, FP is pretty much abandoned, while SH is still getting updated, therefore there are probably more features to come. On FP, what you sign up for is pretty much what you’re gonna get.

Hope this helps clear things up!
Also sorry if my bias is showing

No comparison to me! FriendsProject sucks!

SpaceHey is a much better website/MySpace clone but they need to allow images on profile comments and allow members to create photo albums. Even if it only allows remotely hosted images. I don't see what the big problem is? They allow remote images in forum posts and group posts.

we should be able to have the mail option like in myspace so that 'send message' isn't just instant message! also i think we should be able to post pics for our friends to comment. I do believe we could use a work around because i know that it is hard to host images on a website. so my workaround is to paste an image url and be able to have friends comment on their so that insta pics could be commented on spacehey. Sounds dumb but that's my idea.

I've been on Friendproject since June of 2018. I joined because I wanted to find a site like how Myspace was. FriendProject has a bit more features than SpaceHey  that I like but that's mostly because it's an older site. And it wanted to be the next MySpace. But that didn't happen. Before the tik tok boom it was pretty dead. Users on there did say the owners were a bit strange. I left that site early this year.

I think SpaceHey will be much better than FriendProject.

from what i've seen already and from what i can gather from friends of mine, spacehey is definitely better -- friendproject is sketch as f, and
its got major security issues because the site was pretty much abandoned
before people started using it again from the tiktok ~scenecore~
boom. also like some other people said the owners are major weirdos,
mega conservative christian types. ironic, tbh, considering 90% of the
people who use their website now are like, gay 12 yr olds but yknow

I made an account on FriendProject in 2018 and was really impressed with how much of the original MySpace they had managed to bring back. The unclear history and safety issues can be a bit concerning but the pros are definitely all the features on FP that used to be on MySpace, except for band profiles and the ability to add songs to your profile, other than that, FP has the MySpace feel down to a t. Spacehey is a strong contender and it has the color scheme and logo down to a t, it only needs photo albums for everyone and An has mentioned an interest in making Spacehey music profiles for artists so there is definitely potential for Spacehey to become even better than FP in the long run. So although there is more activity here and more new users, I am keeping both as they both give me that nostalgic MySpace feel in their own ways.

i used to use it and the only thing it had that spacehey doesnt was the ability to change the colours for the home page, instead of only getting to do that on your profile. the stuff about it being owned by a strange christian company is true, it even has a link called "knowing god" in a drop down menu that takes you to a website trying to convert people to christianity, but it does seem like its receiving some updates since theres a dark mode now and the copyright at the bottom says 2024. it also seems to be dying bc i checked the leaderboard and the numbers for the "most viewed" section are so small, the most viewed person in the past month only has 335 views. i bet if spacehey had something like that the most viewed people this month would have views in the thousands.

edit: i just checked the browse users thing and its even worse than i thought. when the "show online only" option isnt checked theres 2610 pages, but when you do check that option theres currently only nine people online. i checked how many there were again like a minute later just to make sure it didnt change, and it dropped to FOUR, i wouldnt be surprised if there is literally no one on there by the time i finish this edit.

While I have both SpaceHey and FriendProject accounts, I find FriendProject to be close to 2009 MySpace in terms of the style of viewing statuses and is much more easier to use and update ur status (plus update with pictures as well) as SpaceHey goes for the older kind of MySpace.

I prefer SpaceHey because it focuses more on usernames rather than real names. It upholds privacy and anonymity better.

I prefer SH because the community in FP is full of children under 13 and I really don’t want to be in between a bunch of children.

even though fp can be a bit weird and unsafe? It is much more similar to the old myspace than spacehey. I will give examples:

1. newsletters

fp (like SpaceHey and MySpace) has a newsletter feature. But the style of the fp newsletters is almost exactly like the myspace newsletters.

2. profile

profiles in fp are essentially the same as in MySpace 2008 - 2010. The online button is similar, the buttons to contact or block a user in the “contacting” field are also similar.

3. photo albums

The old Myspace had a “photo albums” function, of course I don’t know exactly what was there, but it seems that users could upload photos to different albums created by it. This function is present on fp, but for some reason they don’t add it to spacehey :(

4. adding images to profile comments.

Myspace used to have a function where you could add a picture to a comment on a person’s profile, and this function was also implemented by fp. Of course, spacehey does not have such a function, it is only available in blogs. Of course it's a pity.

5. blogs

In fp the style of blogs is simply the same as in myspace.

So far that's all I could compare. If I remember anything else, I'll edit the comment.

Friendproject has more features. But the site is dead, and I hate the name. Satus updates and photo album functions are very neat, I also like the leaderboard they have which feels like a nice reward for being active. SpaceHey really need more functions and I think it was a bad move to focus on a mobile app rather than making the base site more exciting.
